Reverse Idler Shaft

The Reverse Idler Shaft holds the reverse idler gear in your reverse system. The idler gear engages during reverse to change the output rotation direction. At Yancheng Botu Transmission Machinery, we manufacture this shaft from 40Cr steel. It undergoes quenching and tempering, followed by high-frequency hardening of the journal. Precision grinding ensures radial run-out is ≤0.015 mm, allowing the idler gear to spin smoothly while keeping reverse gear noise low. The journal is hardened to HRC 50–55 for excellent wear resistance. The idler gear bushing works with this shaft for long-term durability without wear. The tempering treatment gives the shaft strong all-around toughness, enabling it to handle side forces from reverse gear meshing. With tight control of radial run-out and roundness, this Reverse Idler Shaft meets the demanding requirements of reverse operation.

Even small shafts require high precision. We perform 100% go/no-go gauge checks on every journal and spot-check radial run-out using a run-out tester. Parts outside specifications are scrapped to ensure only top-quality products leave the factory.
