Power take-off shafts (PTO shafts) can be classified in several ways. Based on their installation position on the tractor, they can be divided into rear-mounted, front-mounted, and side-mounted types. According to their rotational speed characteristics, they can be divided into constant-speed and synchronous-speed types. Based on their transmission, operation, and working characteristics, they can be divided into independent, semi-independent, and non-independent power take-off shafts. According to the national standard GB/T 1592.1-2008, PTO shafts have three specifications: Type 1 (6-tooth rectangular spline), Type 2 (21-tooth involute spline), and Type 3 (20-tooth involute spline). Domestic tractors previously widely used the GB1592-1979 standard Type 138 8-tooth rectangular spline; now, to meet the demand for high horsepower, the 8-tooth large-diameter 148 rectangular spline is being promoted.
