The forged shaft has a dense structure, and carburizing with quenching creates a tough core capable of withstanding the shock of clutch engagement. The spline teeth are finely ground for smooth sliding with the clutch driven plate hub. Stress-relief treatment after final machining ensures the shaft remains accurate over time, maintaining consistent performance for years.
